Management Committee

KEY ROLES
  • The committee consists of number of volunteers who bring a wealth of knowledge, experiences, skills and expertise which contributes to the smooth running of the nursery.
    Members of the management committee volunteer their time and attend meetings at least 6 times a year. 
  • Committee members are always welcome to visit the nursery outside of the meetings and to assist with fundraising, attending outings and other activities identified by the manager.

    The committee has a Chairperson, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary plus an additional 8 members of whom, a maximum of 3, are parent representatives. They bring a wealth of knowledge, experiences, skills and expertise which contributes to the smooth running of the nursery. We have a staff representative as well as a number of parent representatives.  Members are elected at our Annual General Meeting and our aim is to encourage a varied membership with members having backgrounds in childcare and early years education, finance, law, marketing, fundraising, community development as well as those who have a genuine interest in seeing young children reaching their full potential.

    Key roles of the Management Committee
    • To ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
    • To hold the manager to account for the performance of the nursery and the performance management of staff.
    • To oversee the financial performance and make sure it’s money is well spent.
    • To appoint and dismiss staff.
    • To hear appeals and grievances.
    • To form policy on the Early Years curriculum.
    • To make sure the building is welcoming and safe.
    • To set and monitor the aims and policies.
