Weekly Newsletter - September 2020

22nd October 2020
  • Dear Parents/Carers,

Please find a brief highlight below from September 2020.

    Teaching and learning
  • During the month of September and throughout the autumn term the focus topic is about ‘Me, Myself & I.’

This topic will allow us to become familiar with the new children, to be aware about their likes, dislikes and enable the practitioners to plan according to each child’s interests and needs. Furthermore, it will allow children to have an easy transition from home to nursery. Also the topic is to enhance children’s positive self-image and to continue to build their confidence and embrace diversity through the celebrations and festivals.

Some activities that we have planned are as below:

    • Older children, will share home languages spoken
    • Share pictures of their families
    • Making flags and talking about different countries
    • In the structured dramatic play we setup a dental surgery. Children will learn about oral hygiene and top foods for healthy teeth and gums.
    • All children will be dressing up in multi- cultural clothes
    • They will be using different skin tone colours.
    • Cooking activities food around the world as well as their favourite food.
    • Toddlers will explore the story of the ‘Tiger who came to tea’. Changing the symbolic play to dramatic.
    • They are learning new words through visual pictures and action songs & rhymes.
    • Multi-cultural instruments are used such as steel pans and maracas.
  • Parents comments after exiting the nursery

  • “Multicultural was celebrated in a very natural way. The nursery celebrated Hanucka and that made Nur very proud and Happy/”

“the diversity in the culture of the staff and the way my child related to them was very important”

  • “…I want to thank you and your team for doing such a great job on preparing Cassius for reception. His social skills and general knowledge has been commented on by his teachers…”
